Meet Erica

Hello - I’m so glad you’re here!
I grew up in Montreal and have been making a life for myself in NY since 2006. I’ve been taking photos since high school and all these years later, I know I’ve found my calling. When I'm not shooting weddings, I’m a total beach bum. This might sound like an oxymoron coming from a Canadian, but I adore the ocean (and very much dislike winter). I swim whenever possible, and I get out to the Rockaways as often as I can. I’m proud to share that my first photo book Beach Lovers came out in June 2022, published by Daylight Books. If you see me at the beach, come say hi, and let’s have a frozen drink together.
I have a beautiful black cat named NaeNae and a Calico baby named Samba, and I foster 4 outdoor street cats. I'm an only child and an Aries. I could talk astrology for hours. I have traveled to over 30 countries. I speak French and Spanish, and I am learning Portuguese. I own several cameras and I adore Polaroids. I love Mr. Softee ice cream trucks. Plant lady, current count: over 60. I live with my wonderful husband in Flatbush.
I went to grad school for International Affairs at the New School in NY, and fell in love with documenting my travels and adventures. I spent years working in the social justice field, and teaching kids photography. I married my love of photography (pun intended) with my passion for social justice into my wedding practice. I am an inclusive and feminist wedding photographer. I believe Black Lives Matter, love is love, climate change is real and immigrants belong here and are the fabric of this country. I work hard to reduce my plastic consumption and I care deeply about animals and the environment.
When I got married in October 2024, I was finally able to experience my work on the other side of the lens - first posing for photos, reminding me that everything I do to make you comfortable ion front of the camera is worth it - and second, the anticipatory, nervous-excited feeling of getting your wedding photos back.
It was more than I could have ever imagined, I was truly blown away by the experience of it. It really hit me that I get to offer this feeling with each wedding that I deliver; opening the unknown, reliving the day and feeling such a rush of love for my friends, family and husband. It was so emotion-filled, so many looks and glances and moments I had forgotten, or didn’t know had happened, and it was the second-best thing to experiencing my wedding day itself. It made this work feel even more meaningful and I really understood why it’s so important to people’s lives.
It’s an honor to be able to give that same gift to my own couples, and I hope to do that for you.
Beach Lovers
When I’m not documenting weddings, I’m taking photos on the beaches of NYC. I’m thrilled to share that my first book came out in June 2022, Beach Lovers, published by Daylight Books.
Beach Lovers is a series of intimate moments shared by couples at the beaches of NYC. These moments hold intimate gestures of couples; some tender, rubbing sunscreen on a partner's back; others lustful, a deep kiss in the water.
This series influences my wedding work well and I’m proud to bring a street photography twist to such a romantic day.

Values & Wedding Thoughts
Why weddings? I have been asked that a lot, and I ask myself that a lot. Simply put, they bring together the most important people in your lives to celebrate your love and what a beautiful recipe for joy that is. I have witnessed some of the most beautiful demonstrations of humanity at weddings. Weddings and all the rainbow of emotions they hold are incredibly life-affirming, and I love being able to document that and send my couples their memories that they will have forever and will continue to relive.
This is so important to me as I made a jump from the non-profit world in 2018. I spent over a decade working in the non-profit and social justice sector, focusing on women’s empowerment, youth development and intersectional social justice, and continuing this work was something I wanted to take forward with me in my wedding work. I make a point of donating a portion of all my weddings to the causes I care about most; reproductive freedom, supporting immigrants, Black Lives Mattering, mitigating and reducing climate change, protecting and uplifting LGBTQ youth, and so many other causes. I am thrilled to say all the couples I work with care about these issues too, and we are able to make a bigger impact with their love.
let’s work together!
I can’t recommend Erica enough. Erica photographed our wedding celebrations at City Hall, wedding dinner and bridal brunch. The calming energy Erica brought to our events made everyone feel at ease and comfortable in front of the camera. She captured so many special moments and we couldn’t be happier with how our photos turned out. Additionally, Erica was a valuable resource throughout our wedding planning process. She is full of amazing tips and recommendations. I would love to work Erica again! - Katie & jacob
